Listening begins before language—sometimes in the hands.

The Mood Wheel™: A Visual–Harmonic Framework

The my serenata Mood Wheel™ organizes internal states through color, emotional gradients, and jazz-informed harmonic design. Eight categories align with signature tones and original chord progressions that support recognition first—then language—without diagnosis or correction.

Foundational Principles

my serenata™ draws from affect labeling, autonomic awareness, and jazz-informed harmonic theory. The framework integrates these foundations into structured, accessible experiences supported by non-pathologizing language across developmental contexts.

Designed For Agency

my serenata™ is structured to preserve individual pace and choice. The framework functions as an invitation rather than a directive, allowing participants to locate and name internal states without imposed interpretation.

No forced labeling. No corrective framing. Sound and color support recognition without pressure.

Development

my serenata™ was created by Dr. Veronica J. Motley, LPC. The framework integrates clinical practice with jazz-informed harmonic design developed in collaboration with a musician and educator.

The work is grounded in the belief that emotion does not require correction—only structure, recognition, and accompaniment.

Community Integration

my serenata™ is structured for use in clinical, educational, and community-based settings. The framework supports internal state recognition through visual and harmonic design adaptable across contexts.

Implementation may include workshops, structured pilots, and institutional partnerships.
